Day Care

8 Apr

We enrolled Timothy in Day Care. Isn’t it crazy that I need to choose a day care and pay a non-refundable deposit now for a February 2013 start?

Until I went to see the day care, it was crazy to even think of Timothy in a Day Care, but having toured the facilities and observed the children at play there, I actually can imagine Timothy there – when he’ll be the same age.

I have mixed feelings. I am happy I made the decision and secured a place for him – and I am sad to be reminded that time flies by so fast. in 10 months he will have to go to day care and I will have to go back to work…

Quite scary but it’s the signs of times we live in. In some schools in SA you have to register the kids once they are born otherwise they don’t get in when they are 5yrs old!!! My colleague is trying to get his 4yr old son into kindergaten and is now on 4 very loooong waiting lists!!!! Most of the kids that will get in were registered at birth, some even while the parents are pregnant

Yes, that’s what I heard – most spots are taken by kids naturally graduating from one level to another and finding an empty spot for a toddler is next to impossible. Same with pediatricians. Many accept newborns, few accept toddlers as new patients…

It is hectic! Friends of ours had to pay a deposit for their little boy as well and the worse is it is non-refundable and you are not guaranteed a spot! Crazy times we are living in!

Non-refundable without any guarantees? That’s tough! At least I am guaranteed to have a spot now!
